Low-frequency oscillation monitoring

The Energoservice Engineering Center is conducting research aimed at identifying and locating the sources of low-frequency oscillations (LFOs) in power systems using synchronized phasor measurement data. The developed tools enable the analysis of power system dynamics based on both historical data and real-time measurements received from phasor measurement units (PMUs).
To enable timely detection and localization of LFO sources, a digital signal processing (DSP) framework and library have been developed. The framework provides scalability through parallel processing and efficient utilization of available computational resources. The DSP library implements computationally efficient, asymptotically optimal algorithms.
Several proprietary methods have also been developed to improve the reliability of the results. The validity and accuracy of these methods are being evaluated in cooperation with JSC “System Operator of the Unified Power System” within the framework of Working Group B5 of the Russian National Committee of CIGRE.
