Engineering Center Energoservice participated in the 51st CIGRE Session in Paris.
From 23 to 28 August 2026, Paris hosted the 51st CIGRE Session — one of the key international events in the power industry. CIGRE brings together leading industry experts and, every two years, provides a platform for sharing best practices and discussing technological trends.
Engineering Center Energoservice is a collective member of CIGRE and participates in the work of Study Committees B5 (“Protection and Automation”) and D2 (“Information Systems, Telecommunications & Cybersecurity”).
The company’s delegation actively participated in the session and presented two technical papers:
“Applying Knowledge Management to Accelerate the Development of Protection, Automation, Measurement, and Monitoring Devices.” The paper addresses the role of experience sharing and systematic knowledge management in accelerating the development and modernization of protection, automation, measurement, and monitoring devices.
“Synchrophasor Data Reliability Monitoring in Power System Operational Mode Analysis.” The paper focuses on the use of neural networks to detect hidden artifacts in synchronized vector measurement (SVM) signals, which improves the reliability of power system mode analysis.
As part of the technical exhibition at the 51st CIGRE Session in Paris, Engineering Center Energoservice presented an updated series of ECIT digital combined instrument transformers for 6–35 kV electrical installations. The devices implement a fundamentally new approach to building digital substations: they transfer part of the relay protection and automation functions directly to the digital instrument transformer.
In line with the evolving trends in the IEC 61850 and IEC 61869 standards, ECIT devices belong to the PIE (Process Interface Equipment) class. Their standard capabilities for delivering SV streams and GOOSE messages simplify the transition to centralized, hardware-independent relay protection solutions using vPAC technologies. At the same time, the built-in protection and automation functions of ECIT enhance system reliability by serving as backup protection relative to vPAC.
At the CIGRE conference, within Study Group A3, special attention was paid to the application experience and further development of electronic current transformers based on the Rogowski coil and the Faraday optical effect. NARI shared its operational experience with electronic (Electronic IT) and optical (Optical CT) current transformers, highlighting the challenges encountered and the solutions implemented to improve their reliability.
SIEMENS ENERGY presented ten years of experience in operating digital instrument transformers (Digital LPIT) installed at more than 150 substations with voltages up to 420 kV. GE VERNOVA showcased its approach to using digital current transformers (Digital LPCT) based on the Rogowski coil, focusing on their advantages and design features.
The ECIT digital combined instrument transformers, presented by Engineering Center Energoservice at the CIGRE technical exhibition, use a combined sensor that includes a Rogowski coil and an active capacitive voltage divider. ECIT ensures high accuracy and fast response in converting current and voltage signals to meet the requirements of relay protection and automation, as well as measurement and energy accounting.
A distinctive feature of ECIT is that the device combines the functions of a digital instrument transformer and secondary-level equipment. It additionally implements relay protection and automation (RPA) functions, a disturbance recorder (DR), conductor temperature monitoring, and an energy meter.
Participation in CIGRE is not only about showcasing technologies but also about enabling direct dialogue with industry experts, exchanging experience, and shaping new technical benchmarks. Engineering Center Energoservice continues to develop its portfolio of solutions for digital power engineering and strengthen its position in the international market.
